Few have ever heard of this mysterious historical figure, yet very real … So, unknown to the battalion? Well no, everyone knows him! Or at least thinks he knows him. But it is under a very different name, moreover intimately linked to a specific region of the globe … A name which irreparably causes fear and unease. This name is none other than Dracula’s! A name that haunts Transylvania, even all of Romania, but above all the collective imagination of the whole world, so much the legend that he left behind him has been nourished by superstitions and fears of humanity … and of much later creativity of a certain Bram Stoker, whose famous novel will have finished sweeping the last traces of historical truth through its pages!

It was in the 15th century that this real story began, in a small principality of the Holy Roman Empire in central Europe, Wallachia, which somehow managed to resist Ottoman pressure whose power did not make any difference. doubt. The relations of this small state with the Turkish Empire oscillate between wars and periods of vassalage to the sultan, who promises peace in return for the payment of a tribute. It is to this end that little Vlad and his brother Radu, son of Vlad II Dracul, Prince of Wallachia and member of the Order of the Dragon, will be given as a pledge of good understanding to the Turkish authority. And it is from this historical fact, experienced as a betrayal by this already ambitious child, that the myth of Vlad III Basarab Dracul will be born … Dracul, as dragon … or as devil? …

 

From this point of departure, on the impetus of Dominique Rochet, professor of double bass at the conservatory of Limoges, and Cristiana Eso, singer at the Limoges Opera and author, herself of Romanian origin, was created an astonishing musical spectacle mixing reality, phantasmagoria, myth and poetry… The beautiful part is left to the music, written or improvised (theme favorable to the creative imagination, if there is one). It is played on the various tables of history by the pupils of the string orchestra (J. Lys) and of the double bass (D. Rochet), guitar (D. Pasquet) and chamber music (M .-C. Voirpy), while actors from the drama class (M. Bruzat) evoke and play on stage the adventures of our character …
